Choosing a format
- Markdown is the native format: what you wrote, exactly, portable forever.
- Plain Text strips the formatting for the plainest possible copy.
- TextPack packages the note as a TextBundle, the format used by apps like Bear, Ulysses, and iA Writer.
- HTML produces a styled, self-contained page with images included.
- RTF opens in word processors like Word and Pages, formatting intact.
- ePub packages the note as an e-book for e-readers like Apple Books (and Kindle after conversion).
- PDF gives you a print-ready document, rendered from the HTML export.
Free formats and Caliu Pro
Markdown and Plain Text export are always free, on every platform.
TextPack, HTML, RTF, PDF, and ePub export are part of Caliu Pro, and so is bulk export (exporting many notes at once as a ZIP). Gated formats show a Pro badge in the export menu, and choosing one opens the upgrade screen if you're not subscribed.
