Archive is for notes you are done with but want to keep. Archive a note from its actions menu, the command palette, or as a bulk action.
What archiving does
An archived note disappears from All Notes, tag views, smart lists, and search. It lives only in the Archive view in your sidebar. Unlike trash:
- Archived notes are never removed automatically. They stay for as long as you want.
- Archived notes keep their tags, so unarchiving is lossless: the note returns exactly where it was, with every tag intact.
- Exports still include archived notes. They are your data, kept forever.
Archive vs. trash
| Archive | Trash | |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-removed | Never | After 30 days |
| Keeps tags | Yes | No |
| Meant for | Notes you are done with | Notes you do not want |
Unarchiving
Open the Archive view and unarchive a note from its row, or use the command palette. The note goes straight back to your active notes.
One thing to know: deleting an archived note moves it to the Trash, like any other note. If you restore it later, it returns to your active notes rather than to the Archive.
