Every note carries more than its text: word counts, headings, connections to other notes, attachments, past versions. The inspector gathers all of it into one panel next to the editor.
What's inside
- Info: word, character, and paragraph counts, read time, created and modified dates, tags, link counts, and the note's identifier.
- Outline: every heading in the note. Click or tap one to jump straight to it.
- Links: notes that link here (backlinks) and notes this one links to.
- Attachments: every image and file attached to the note, a tap away from opening.
- History: a timeline of the note's past versions, with a one-click restore. Part of Caliu Pro.
Counts and lists update live as you write, so you can leave the panel open while you work.
Opening the inspector
- In the web app, click the panel icon at the far right of the note's toolbar, or press
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+\. Running "Note info" from the command palette (Cmd/Ctrl+K) opens it straight to the Info tab. - On the Mac, click the sidebar icon at the top-right corner of the window, or press
Cmd+Option+I. - On iPad, tap the sidebar icon in the editor's toolbar.
- On iPhone, tap the
(i)icon above the note.
Which tabs you see can depend on your screen size: on smaller screens, some tabs (like Outline or Links) fold their content into Info to keep the panel simple.
Good to know
- Reminders keep their own bell icon on the note's toolbar and are not part of the inspector.
- History requires an internet connection and is part of Caliu Pro; every other tab works offline for everyone.
