Every note keeps score, quietly. The Info tab of the note inspector shows how a note is shaping up.
What you get
- Words: the total word count of the note.
- Characters: the total character count of the note.
- Paragraphs: how many paragraphs the note is broken into.
- Read time: an estimate of how long the note takes to read.
- Tags: which tags the note carries.
- Links and backlinks: connections to and from other notes.
- Created and modified: when the note was born and when it last changed.
- Identifier: the note's unique ID, with a copy button next to it. Useful for the API, MCP tools, or jumping straight to the note from search.
Counts update live as you write, so you can keep the panel open while chasing a word limit.
Where to find it
Word and character counts live in the Info tab of the note inspector. Open it from the note's toolbar, or run "Note info" from the command palette (Cmd/Ctrl+K) on the web to jump straight to it.
No configuration, no tracking, just numbers about your own writing, computed on your device.
